About Dr Watkins. From Nature for You Naturally

Dr Watkins, yes that’s me, I have a PhD in Biology and worked as a research scientist in biology for many years. My passion these days, however, is making the finest, all natural skincare, cleaning and laundry products.

I was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition, Crohn’s disease 17 years ago and after some tough years, multiple surgeries and flare ups and some pretty heavy duty medication I am in remission. During my journey I became aware of the power of diet in all things wellness. The smallest micronutrient can set off an autoimmune flare up! I can honestly say that taking my nutrition right back to basics and minimising all modern processed convenience foods made the most positive difference to my health both mental and physical. This brings me to skincare. I began to realise that it is not just our food that is processed beyond belief with all manner of microtoxins in this modern world of ours, but also our skincare, makeup, laundry detergents and household cleaners. We inhale these chemicals when cleaning (ever ended up with a massive headache when you’ve cleaned the bathroom?) and slather them on our skin in ‘self-care’. Our skin is our largest organ and well known to be one of the quickest routes for the absorption of substances into our bloodstream. This led me to the conviction that as well as my nutrition I should take my skincare and indeed any chemicals I use in my house right back to basics. From this Dr Watkins’ Essentials was born. So now my self-care rituals really are caring for myself in both mind and body, and yours can be too.

Here at Dr Watkins’ Essentials I live by ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ and favour the reuse option whenever I can. I use fully recyclable glass in which to store my products. For my larger volume products such as laundry liquid, multi-purpose cleaner and castile soap I offer a refill service to local customers.
